I'm so happy having discovered this movie because it's a new favorite.
Ana's Amirpour's debut is a well crafted monochromatic movie entirely filmed at night. It gives so much depth and perspective to the story and the vampire lore outside of the usual Trop is refreshing.
An absolute fresh take of the vampire genre with a balanced feminist approach.
It's visually stunning and emotionally captivating.
Bonus for the excellent soundtrack throughout the movie.
I always thought black and white to enhance the horror and creepiness and how scary it looks especially with vampire lore whatever the setting is. This scene where she scares the kiddo in the street was a good example of it.
Armipour managed to keep me totally hooked from the first scene to the last when my brain easily wanders here and there usually when I'm watching a movie. I was captivated and in awe.
Sheila Vand is both stunning and super scary in this role and she's playing it so well.
I totally recommend this movie!
